SIERRA LEONE | Traditional Healers Union Calls for More Cooperation to End Ebola

The President for the Sierra Leone Indigenous Traditional Healers Union, Alhaji Dr. Sulaiman Kabba has called on traditional healers and herbalists to continue to adhere to the government restriction of not treating sick persons despite the drastic reduction in the number of recorded Ebola cases in the country. He noted that the country has gone a long way in the fight against the dreadful disease. “We can only conquer if we continue our resolve to eradicate it,” he said.

Dr Kabba continued that the Ebola cases were fluctuating because some people were still stubborn to follow the safety rules instituted by exoertsand therefore called on authorities concerned to take the necessary steps against people who are in the habit of flouting the safety measures.

“I don’t think there is a single person in this country that does not know about the dangers of the Ebola disease,” Dr. Kabba pointed out, stressing that it is only Sierra Leoneans that can come together to wipe out the Ebola disease.

Dr Kabba said that there are countless Ebola messages published or aired at different media outlets in order to educate the least person in the country adding that it is high time people acted in line with those messages. Dr Kabba said that people should not relent until the entire country records zero Ebola cases for forty two days.

He however commended the efforts of the government and its partners for their commitments in making sure that the Ebola cases countrywide are reduced considerably.
